Testimonial and endorsement

Under the SEC marketing rule, a testimonial is a client statement about their experience with an advisor, and an endorsement is a similar statement from.

Both are permitted subject to conditions including disclosure of client status, any compensation paid, and material conflicts. Compensation is defined broadly enough to include non-cash benefits.
