Limited power of attorney

A limited power of attorney grants an advisor defined authority over an account — typically to trade and to deduct fees — without the ability to withdraw assets to a third party.

The limits are what keep the arrangement from constituting custody. Standing authority to move money elsewhere is a different thing with different obligations.
